Four months in tropics went by so quickly. It's a strange thing, because in the beginning of the trip we used to think that "it's such a long time, we'll have time for everything" or that "we'll get bored being on the road at some point", well no and no. It is not a long time and we did not get bored. Not even close! In fact, if anything, we were wishing we had chosen to do an entire year on theAnonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05739208958315219459noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2635584264429642127.post-32010623490745688342014-08-19T17:00:00.004+02:002014-08-19T17:07:00.727+02:00Uluwatu - Bali
We had literally our last days in tropics on hand...where did all that time go? To make sure to make the best of what was left, we still had a few things and places (other than our heavenly poolside!) to see in South-Kuta. First and foremost it's often said that Bali is a surfer's paradise but so far we hadn't seen a single surfer, so naturally, we needed to go where the surfers go - and Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05739208958315219459noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2635584264429642127.post-27790547757593305602014-08-19T14:11:00.000+02:002014-08-19T14:30:51.506+02:00Seminyak & Tanah Lot
In Bali it's almost as each area would have a certain "reputation". Whereas Ubud symbolises the Balinese cultural centre, Kuta is considered as the outrageous beach party hub with little (if any) authenticity left. That said, we had to choose where to spend the last couple of days before heading to Japan, and since the flight from Bali was scheduled really early in the morning, we thought Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05739208958315219459noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2635584264429642127.post-36666984764732938342014-08-05T18:27:00.000+02:002014-08-05T20:28:28.674+02:00Gilis' Blue Hour

A few hours boat ride away from Bali and just off the coast of Lombok, lay the three little Gili islands- Air, Meno and Trawangan. Islands, that in the past were mainly visited by backpackers and adventurers that were looking for off the beaten path places and untouched maritime paradises. Fast forward a few decades and the reality of these islands has completely changed. Recently we've come to realise that our blog's layout isn't the most user-friendly out there. We've been having problems with the layout and it seems like there's no way to make it work properly, and so we'll be probably updating it in the near future.
Now, the main issue with the layout is that when you click on some of the sections, say, "TRAVELS", it only shows few Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05739208958315219459noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2635584264429642127.post-79966659777003052152014-07-30T14:54:00.002+02:002014-07-31T13:15:40.438+02:00Tegalalang Rice Terrace
We had now spent almost a week in the Ubud area and it had been nothing short of adventurous. It really is a great spot in the heart of Bali that has so much to offer in terms of activities, culture and the marvellous nature. I don't even think it's possible to leave this place without thinking "wow, that was something else"- our thoughts exactly in the morning of the departure.

Out of love for outdoors and for hiking in particular, getting to the top of some mountain(s) was certainly on our list of things to do while in Southeast Asia. After a bit of research we decided upon going for the Mount Batur sunrise trek, which meant getting up at 2am to start the drive towards the volcano. The drive itself was already interesting as we followed a road through villages in a Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05739208958315219459noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2635584264429642127.post-6440509590860124712014-07-28T17:37:00.000+02:002014-07-31T13:16:42.061+02:00Downhill Biking
We generally love getting on bikes whenever possible, not only because it's a convenient way to see more of the new place, but also because it works as a good exercise and you get to be active. After touring around Bali with a car the previous day, we were excited to get on bikes and work our way through the rural countryside. Little did we know that the majority of the route would literally be Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05739208958315219459noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2635584264429642127.post-5753234164866348292014-07-24T17:04:00.002+02:002014-07-31T13:17:13.720+02:00On the Road in Bali
One of the best ways to see more of Bali is to plan a day on the road and venture off your base. The most common way to do this is to hire a taxi driver, sit back and enjoy! This is exactly what we did on one of our first days in Ubud, and looking back now in retrospective it was an excellent choice. In just one day we saw so much of this stunning island, and not only these impeccable "sights", Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05739208958315219459noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2635584264429642127.post-74768910830920337732014-07-23T15:20:00.001+02:002014-07-31T13:17:55.841+02:00From Ubud with Love
This little town in central Bali isn't just any town. It's where the Balinese culture and traditions meet the luscious nature that's literally all around this town in forms of rice paddies, forests and even volcanoes. And because of its great location, it's an ideal place to start exploring not only the immediate vicinity but more of the entire island.

From the moment we arrived to Ubud we were totally smitten by it. I don't know how else to describe this gorgeous heart land of Bali that's surrounded by lush hills, jungles, rice terraces and incredible amount of traditions and culture. It's just one of those places that you only dream about existing. We were beyond excited to base ourselves here for a week or so, and explore what this Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05739208958315219459noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2635584264429642127.post-70923410655084149492014-07-15T15:46:00.002+02:002014-07-31T13:19:04.641+02:00Monkey Forest
One of the very first things we did in Ubud was visiting the Monkey Forest nature reserve. It's actually interesting how there are some places that one just 'must' visit while in Bali, and this was one of them. Conveniently located just at the end of the main street (Jalan Raya), it was a fun place to start discovering this magical town that lies in the middle of lush jungles and rice paddy Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05739208958315219459noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2635584264429642127.post-69966995368581808612014-07-11T15:02:00.001+02:002014-07-31T13:19:52.881+02:00Singapore State of Mind
Singapore, oh Singapore. Home for all kinds of warning signs and odd rules (bringing chewing gum is a crime), polite people, diverse food and those oh-so-smelly fruits also knowns as durians. Just to clarify, it's a fruit they love so much that it is forbidden everywhere - in taxis, metros...and even on a street (although they do find a way to consume it anyway, even as an ice-cream version!). Singapore's one of those cities that's not exactly bursting with must-sees and dos. And since we had plenty of time there, we decided to check out the zoo that is said to be one of the best zoos in the world; not only the animals live freely but the setting itself is quite spectacular in this beautiful rainforest. Honestly we're not very big on visiting zoos, partly because seeing animals in Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05739208958315219459noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2635584264429642127.post-85028392391746342022014-07-07T18:32:00.000+02:002014-07-31T13:20:41.035+02:00Multicultural Malacca
Malacca was our last stop in Malaysia before heading down to Singapore. We had a couple of days to go around this town that is, just like George-Town of Penang, culturally rich in so many ways. Like I've said it many times before, Malaysia is a melting pot for different religions, people and food, and you could describe Malacca the exact same way but it all comes in a much more Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05739208958315219459noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2635584264429642127.post-3762597207526868352014-07-03T16:42:00.001+02:002014-07-31T13:21:06.987+02:00Old Meets New - Kuala Lumpur {Part II}
No trip to Kuala Lumpur is complete without standing and marvelling at least once at the bottom of its most famous landmark - The Petronas Towers. So what makes these two so famous, I mean they're just skyscrapers, right? In fact they used to be the world's tallest skyscrapers for six years and even now that they've lost their title of the highest building, they still dominate the KL skyline Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05739208958315219459noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2635584264429642127.post-22309257266555193422014-07-02T17:08:00.000+02:002014-07-31T13:21:22.921+02:00Old Meets New - Kuala Lumpur {Part I}
It's hard to imagine that Kuala Lumpur, or more familiarly KL, was a small remote town only 150 years ago. Nowadays anyone who comes here knows that it represents the ultimate Asian cyber-city where many transcontinental cultures, people and architectural styles meet. On the newer side of the town (KLCC) you can see the modern if not even futuristic skyscrapers forming a flourishing business Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05739208958315219459noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2635584264429642127.post-1726871965860467972014-07-02T13:32:00.000+02:002014-07-31T13:21:39.133+02:00Batu Caves
Just outside of Kuala Lumpur lies an exciting Hindu complex of temples and shrines. What makes it so interesting is that it's all hidden inside of three main caves and at the entrance there is a huge golden Murugan statue. And that's not all - in order to get to the main cave, one must climb almost 300 steep stairs and few more to reach the temples inside. It's also more of a rule than exceptionAnonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05739208958315219459noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2635584264429642127.post-51977463034502221382014-06-30T19:03:00.001+02:002014-07-31T13:22:07.043+02:00George Town - Penang
Malaysia was one of those countries that took us by surprise and instead of staying only about a week there, we could've easily spent more time traveling around this culturally rich melting pot. We had planned to have just a quick visit in Georgetown, Penang, but even that was cut short because we missed our ferry in Langkawi. Hence, our quick visit turned out to be even quicker. Long stretches of white-sand beaches, crystal clear water, chill atmosphere, great snorkelling...The list could go on forever. I could spend hours trying to convince everyone that the movie The Beach wasn't the reason I so badly wanted to go to Maya Bay. I mean, it probably is a reason for many people to visit this beautiful bay and surely the movie made it more famous, but I actually wanted to see it for seeing it and not visiting 'the movie set'. Deciding on which Thai islands to visit wasn't actually so easy. Many of them look amazing and have interesting sides to them, but there are couple of other things to consider like if it fits to your route and whether or not it's known to be over crowded. Our arrival to Ko Samui was nothing short of memorable- namely it was the Thai New Year and the Songkran water festival!
