Paris {10th}: Canal Saint-Martin

Oct 28, 2013

People chilling by the water, bohemian bars and boutiques framing each bank of the canal, unexpected street art and graffiti on walls or just the general laid back vibe of this neighborhood- these are some of the things attracting locals again and again to this popular hangout spot in the 10th Arrondissement. Less known for tourists, it gives you the chance to get to know a genuine side of Paris and get an alternative feel to a city that’s often perceived rather polished and chic. Canal Saint-Martin is at its best during spring- and summer time, but an autumn stroll along it can also turn out to be a delight…and in case you get caught in a downpour, well, let’s just say that luckily it’s filled with cool places to grab a warm drink, beer or a bite! But it's a definitive must for anyone looking to get out of the main stream or thinking that canals are the privilege of Amsterdam...;)
