Uluwatu - Bali

Aug 19, 2014
We had literally our last days in tropics on hand...where did all that time go? To make sure to make the best of what was left, we still had a few things and places (other than our heavenly poolside!) to see in South-Kuta. First and foremost it's often said that Bali is a surfer's paradise but so far we hadn't seen a single surfer, so naturally, we needed to go where the surfers go - and what's better than Uluwatu. Apparently one of the top places in the world to catch waves, or at least the very top notch in Bali! We couldn't miss out on seeing that now could we. Secondly, since we were already in the area, we wanted to check out the nearby Uluwatu Pura Luhur temple area (not that we hadn't see enough temples already...). Aside from some sneaky monkeys, the views from the cliffs were breath-taking and it was well worth the stop on the way.

Even so, the highlight of the day must've been sipping a cold Bintang and watching a billion surfers taking their turns on those famous waves...none of us is even into surfing but just seeing them riding the waves was so cool! In the end of the day we came to conclusions that the south coast of Bali can be also extremely beautiful, and at the same time very different to the inland. It's like I mentioned on my previous post about the different regions having each their own characteristics, the same goes with people. Depending what you're into, you can find almost any type of people and scenes in Bali. And that's what's really fascinating about this island - it goes beyond being just a tropical paradise.
